Favorites of 2011

So as 2011 comes to a close, I looked back through the photographs that I have taken this year.
I compiled them in to a "favorites" set, which is never easy to do. But these were photos that I felt were a little more unique in some way. Perhaps it was a new place I'd never photographed, or it was a place I had photographed numerous times, but saw it in a new way on a particular day and snapped a shot. It is amazing what all has happened in the past year, and all the places I have visited. We had an unusual amount of snow back in the previous winter, the cicadas came out of their 13 year sleep, and I had two friends and a niece get married this year, and they asked me to take photos of these special occasions. I visited, San Diego, California, Las Vegas, Nevada and made it all the way to Greece and Turkey this year. In addition to these larger trips, I had a great time visiting several of the beautiful state parks here in Tennessee and city parks here in Nashville. Over all 2011 was an excellent year, and here's hoping that 2012 is even better! Happy New Year!

Alley in December

So it is that time of the year when it is cold, dark, (and lately rainy) outside and NO ONE wants to have to stay outside all day...especially this kid. So she's been getting a lot of couch time in so far this winter season!
The Santa outfit wasn't her idea (or mine for that matter). My strange, but sweet neighbors up the street bought this for her (er...back in October...see what I mean) and have bugged me ever since to get photographs of her in the suit. (in their defense their little old dog died a few months ago...so Alley is sort of "their" pup too...they love her...she um...kinda hates them...the kid anyway).
So there are pics here of her in her Santa outfit as well...ha ha. (Can you see the humiliation in her eyes?)

Nashville in November 2011

So today was just an amazing day....here are the photographs taken with my Pentax camera. The colors this year are simply outstanding!

November in Nashville (iPhone)

So I got up around 8 o'clock this morning and slowly headed outside to go to the gym...and saw the beautiful fog all around the colors of Fall...so I spent some time in the front yard and the back yard taking a few photos. After the workout I headed down to River Front Park...and got a few shots near the Titans' stadium and along the river where the new Cumberland Park is being built. (It is being billed as a "play park." We'll see what that means in a few months when it is finished). I love Fall.

Occupy Nashville 2011

I'm not much of a person to be part of a "movement." I'm certainly not one to be part of some sort of protest... But I headed down to Legislative Plaza tonight with my friend Ryan to see what was going on down there. It was a small movement, and then the governor had to stick is big nose into things that didn't need his "help" and now it has grown and gained more support after the governor and the state troopers tried to abuse their power and remove these guys (who have been peaceful the whole time) from the plaza. (a public space). I don't know what these people want, and more importantly I couldn't care less what they want.
But I do know that the Constitution protects their right to assemble peacefully and to have a voice heard in the public arena. The Federal judge that shot down their right to arrest these people...would agree I guess.

Fall At The House

Well it is now November. October was just a blur! A gorgeous blur, but a blur. Got home today, saw the beauty around my own back yard...took some pics. Alley was right there the whole time with me, so she ended up being a subject as well.

Random Nashville

Finally my last blog post today is a few photos I've taken in the past few days around town. Nashville has great little spots all over the place that is a photographer's dream. The Arcade downtown is one of those places. Very unique.
